How can I get rid of puffy eyes?
Using a Cold Spoon to Depuff the Eye Area
Be prepared for allergy season! First, keep a spoon in the fridge. A cold spoon is what you want. You don’t want them to be freezing cold, so store them in the refrigerator, not the freezer. Next, use the spoon to press under the eye. Slow and gentle is the way you want to move it across the skin. Place your eye cream on the bone, under the eye. Use two spoons so that each one is still cold. Continue with the spoons one at a time and move from the inner corner outward. Stay close to the bone so that the eye cream doesn’t go into the eye. Use your ring finger to press out and down toward your ear.
Clean the spoons and put them back in the fridge for the next time you want to depuff.
What Foods help with Puffy Eyes?
The eyes reflect good health! Even though eating certain foods won’t completely fix puffy eyes, it is beneficial to have a healthy diet. The good news is there are some foods to add to your diet too! Water-rich cucumbers and watermelon can help the skin to look more hydrated. Blueberries have nutrients that are good for the eyes. Parsley has detoxification benefits. Adzuki beans are used in some Japanese beauty treatments. Use them in recipes in tacos, dips, and soups.
Flaxseed is a good addition because in our 40’s and 50’s we tend to become drier. Flax oil or milled flaxseed is rich in essential fatty acids. Studies have shown flax to help dry eyes. If you are adding flax to your diet, add it in slowly. You can put 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon in a smoothie or oatmeal to start your morning.
A healthy approach helps when it comes to the eyes. Then a little massage for the eyes at night and in the morning. Eating foods that help prevent dry eyes helps too. And last, make sure to use eye cream only under the eye at night. Applying it down on the bone and will wick up.
