Is your deepest craving to do a Texas road trip to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos? There’s a good reason for the famous Miles to Magnolia sign! It’s something about the silos and market that draws us there from a long way away. Is it the magnetism of Joanna and Chip Gaines? Or is it Joanna’s down to earth genius that drives us there? Either way, for many of us it is miles away, so what other attractions could take us to the Waco, Texas area?
I so much enjoyed our visit to Magnolia Market at the Silos that I wanted to share with you some of the things I found along the way. Hopefully it helps give you an excuse (if you need one) to get to see all the beautiful Fixer Upper style that you can take in. If you have had dreams of going for years as I did, here are some other ideas for a well-rounded trip to Texas so that you have an excuse to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos.

From where I live it is more than 1300 miles to Magnolia Market in Waco. Recently my daughter moved to the Texas area and it is such a long way from home. We planned a visit in September and stayed in Fort Worth, Texas. From Fort Worth, Waco is about an hour and 45 minutes.
We stayed at the LaQuinta, Fort Worth and I would recommend it. They offer free breakfast and this location had a pool and even a covered bridge behind the hotel. Here is the fun thing about Texas, there are pastures everywhere! If you like horses, there are plenty to see. A beautiful white mare was in the pasture next to our hotel and happy to eat all the grass that we wanted to feed her.
If you choose Fort Worth as your destination on the way to Magnolia there is plenty to do. Every day at 11am and 4pm there is a cattle crossing at the stockyards. This is a must see while you are visiting , the street will be lined with people waiting to watch the longhorns. Afterwards, take a walk on the brick lined streets of The Fort Worth Stockyards. Shopping for all kinds of cowboy and cowgirl clothing is great here. Check out fortworthstockyards.org for a listing of retailers, events and dining! Be sure to visit the Fort Worth Water Gardens too!
There are endless shopping possibilities in Fort Worth as well. The Shops at Clearfork offers everything from Neiman Marcus to Tiffany & Co. and features Louis Vuitton, Kendra Scott, Evereve, Tumi and many more. There are several malls in the Fort Worth area, we visited the Hulen and Hurst Malls during our stay. Dillard’s has something for everyone and is available at both of these malls.
Something for Sports Fans!
And now for some excitement for football fans. Of course one of the best excuses to take a trip to Texas is to go to AT&T stadium to see the Dallas Cowboys. Even if you aren’t a Cowboys fan, check the schedule for when they play your team! From our hotel, the stadium was only 24 minutes. Uber is your best bet to avoid high parking fees. Put the app on your phone and try it out ahead of time. If you live in a smaller city like I do you might not be as familiar with it. A full stadium tour with access to the field is available and came highly recommended by anyone we asked. Tickets for the tour and the game can be found at www.attstadium.com.
Dallas is not only the home to The Cowboys, but major league soccer with The Dallas Burn, basketball with The Mavericks and hockey with The Dallas Stars. College games are really popular too! Everything is bigger in Texas!

If you choose Fort Worth to stay in and then take a Texas road trip to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos, there are some things to do along the way. Before that you can stop along the way for some traditional Texas breakfast. If you ask a local they will tell you to go the Czech Stop for kolaches, they are a very popular pastry in Texas. Two Texan friends mentioned kolaches when talking about a road trip to Waco. We stopped just to look at the endless fields of cotton outside the rest stops. There are walking trails in Waco if you like to hike, one winds for 5 miles along the Brazos River. (Keep in mind the Texas heat, 99 and humid during our visit in September.
