Are you looking for ideas for New Year Goals? Every January is a fresh start and we have new motivation to create new goals! For years, I dreaded questions like “Have you made any New Years Resolutions?” Now I look at it as a chance to think about goals that I would like to work toward. Why not make it fun by getting some trusted advice for the goals that so many of us want to achieve?
So where to begin? How do we find out expert ways to create and accomplish goals? I created a list of inspiration sources for common dreams and goals. All of the resources that I mention really left an impression on me. So let’s go! Here’s the list!
Fitness Goals
This area is so important and changes in midlife make finding the best workouts a little more tricky, but I like to think positive about this. We can be in better shape than ever if you factor in the time we now have to devote to this goal. This is true especially if you are now closer to career goals that have been all-consuming. It is no longer a question of if we should work out. We need it for physical and mental health! So here are some places to turn for fitness motivation!
New Year Fitness Motivation & Inspiration
Physical activity can help with all the changes that take place after 40. A new study quoted in Health Magazine and done by the European Heart Journal shows that cardio and HIIT, slowed signs of aging on the cellular level. Several HIIT workouts to choose from are linked in the article. There is even one to do in a hotel room, I picked that one and linked it above.
Hit the gym or do an at-home workout
If you already have an exercise routine the benefits are clear to you. Adding a new fun class to your routine to change it up a little can keep it from getting boring. Let’s start with posture! It’s easy to see how this makes a difference, just look around and you will see good examples of how posture makes us look better or not! If you are like me, it takes a conscious effort to keep a good posture. Doing Pilates or Barre as a part of my workout routine always helps to support good posture. Here’s a link to the Beautybites blog with Barre Exercises that also improve posture with specific instructions in the article at Beautybites.org. Barre is an especially perfect travel exercise routine since it is done while standing.
People who have been successful at keeping a fitness routine have started small. Better to pick out a few 15- minute routines to do either in the am or pm that you will stick with than trying to go to the gym for an hour a day in the very beginning. If you belong to the gym and that keeps you motivated, make a plan for your workout. Write down your goals to reflect on them later!

New Year Goals beyond ourselves
Pinterest is always a great source of inspiration for new goals and resolutions! I saw this Beach Cleanup pin from Wellness Travelled, on Pinterest and linked it because I thought the post was very inspiring. During my Christmas visit to Florida, we saw so much plastic washed up on the beach. It made me understand the need to control the use of straws (Even as an avid iced coffee drinker!) I am adding a beach cleanup activity to my New Year Goals list!
By the way, while we are talking about the beach, here’s our next category!
Travel Resolutions
For years travel was impossible for me. As a newly divorced mom, my kids took precedence and vacations were not a priority. I wanted to take the girls somewhere. but there were other things that came first. Finally, vacation became a possibility again and we packed our bags and went to the beach!
Since then I have found some inspiration of my own! Travel has become an important part of my life. Especially since Dan, my boyfriend, loves to travel! As a result, I have learned a lot. For the longest time as a Nail Tech, I have been getting some amazing women ready to travel. After all, that’s what pedicures are all about! Heading to warm weather where we can wear great sandals! So I have heard some of their concerns about travel packing, what to wear and how to pack our beauty routines in carry-ons.
My goal this year is to become a very efficient traveler and share everything I learn with you.
