Most people struggle with their morning routine for before work. Either we try to fit too much in or rush to get ready. When we have good habits, the morning routine can become second nature! So let’s put that power of habit to work!
When I first started blogging, I read about bloggers who said they had to skip workouts and healthy routines just to keep their writing active. It seems crazy, but I can see where it happens, we all have so much to do in a day. Even if you are not trying to fit in extra tasks. If you are an early riser, that is a great start. The best thing to do from there is to think about what you may want to include in your morning:)
Schedule a Productive Morning Everyday!
- Writing or Making Lists
- Exercise
- Breakfast
- Hair
- Makeup
- Getting what you need for the day
This morning I got up at 6 and I wrote for 15 minutes. I see it suggested everywhere and finally tried it! Definitely a good boost to the flow of ideas and creativity. What works for you? It’s easy to fall into such a routine that we forget to do things that boost our creative side!
Workout Exercises for Your Before Work Routine
Since we plan to visit the beach, my morning workout is even more essential so 10 minutes is great, but 20 is better! I love to use Pvolve and Love, Sweat Fitness. Both of those give me great routines and are on youtube! You can also opt for memberships with each one.
Keep your yoga mat easily accessible and any weights you use also. No excuses of having to go get these things:) If you have an area where you can workout, even better, make sure you have music and decor you like in the room.

What to Avoid to Have a Productive Morning
A quick segue, before we go any further. You know it, we need to avoid these things that can really slow us down in the morning!
- Social Media rabbit holes
- Stressing over outfits
- Lack of preparation
Some mornings are going to be better than others, it’s just a fact! Give yourself a little room on this, so the rules don’t become self defeating.
I know for me, if I am not mindful, I can end up reading every comment on facebook to every news story and it is very time consuming. Plus, it just can bring down and slow your momentum for your morning routine for before work! Have you ever found yourself doing this? Then there’s the comparison trap, so set a timer for any quick check of social media before you leave (or stay home) for work.
To perfect your night time routine, check my post. All the tips there will help you avoid stressing over outfits and lack of preparation for your day. Plus some tips for getting a better sleep, which should help your morning too:)
So since your morning is moving right along, next is getting ready!
Simple Ways to Get Ready for Work in Less Time!
It’s all about the preparation! Have a simple wardrobe that you can lay clothes out from the night before. That will make your morning routine for before work much easier. Once you get ready to shower, have a plan for hair and makeup. Recently, I started to shampoo less often and it has been good for my hair and a super time saver too! Check my post for some tips on stretching your days between washing hair! I usually try to skip 2 days, summer is a little tricky. If hair is thicker you probably already go longer, but there are some tips in the post that can help you too.
Simpler is always easier, the more streamlined your skin care and makeup is the faster you can do it each day! Skin care is the key to your makeup looking better everyday. Take a look at the way you do your makeup and see how organized it is. I like to take out any duplicate items. Your makeup will look better if you take good care of your skin. Exfoliating and hydrating will go along way toward a smoother complexion.
Establish a hair and makeup routine that are easy and fast! One of my favorite ways to keep my makeup simple is to use a self tanner before bed so that my face has a glow to it. That way a simple makeup routine really works. I love using a face makeup with sun protection so that it’s 2 steps in one. Try to find a product that uses mineral based sunscreen.
Motivation for Waking up Early
It’s so easy to interrupt a routine and lose the motivation. So I was thinking of some tips to help keep us going. Simplifying is a huge part of it when it comes to outfits and even what you will bring for lunch. Planning goes hand in hand! Here’s some other ways to perfect your morning routine for before work.
Of course if you like coffee it is a great motivation to wake up! Even another beverage, like a green tea latte, hot or iced could help you start the day!
Make sure your slippers are ready so that the thought of cold feet hitting the floor doesn’t stop you from getting out of bed.
Use essential oils like citrus to wake up and for clarity. If you have a diffuser or even if you have two. Put them to use and have lavender in one for sleep and orange oil in the other to wake up. Some diffusers work on a timer so you could set one to help you wake up at a slightly earlier time that your usual!
Having a really thick exercise mat helps too, especially when it’s early in the morning. I have a nice one and I like to keep it accessible so I can grab it quickly.
Plant some succulents in a sunny area of your workout room, the cheerier the better!
Use all your senses to get you going in the morning! Soon the habit of feeling your feet slide into your slippers and some energizing sunshine and aromatherapy will become an easy, rewarding routine! Set yourself up for success with a great morning routine for before work! Let me know if there are routines you are trying to start!
