So I was already in bed, thinking am I really going to get up and write a blog post? Yes, because it is on my heart right now! I am about to be a mother of the bride!. They eloped actually, and now we are hosting a party for them. So it’s more of a party than a reception.
So no matter what your event looks like, you have the same concerns about looking nice for the event that I do.
Are you totally absorbed in planning a wedding? So much to think about. The task takes every free moment that you have. It is a lot of fun along the way. Everyone knows it’s important to find a mother of the bride dress! That takes time too, in the mean time you are planning food, seating charts and helping your daughter stay calm etc!
So what about feeling good in that dress when the day comes? I wanted to list 3 things that a mom could do even if you only have a month or so till you attend the wedding. Some mother of the bride ideas for self care that will benefit you beyond that special day!
Mother of the Bride Ideas for self care
- WORKOUT this could mean going for a walk three times a week. Check first with your doctor before you start a routine. Really light weights can be used for an arm workout to shape up those biceps and triceps too! I know lots of women get self conscious about these areas so planning ahead and getting workouts in weeks before will help. Here’s one from self magazine! Again make sure it’s ok with the doctor. https://www.self.com/video/watch/10-minute-upper-body-dumbbell-workout
- GROW your nails, check out my lemon ? oil cuticle oil recipe. Conditioning your cuticles regularly will help your hands look great. Expect your nails to be a little weak at first as they grow. See my post about nails. Having a nice oil will help the overall look of your nails Let them grow a little before the wedding so that they will look nice on that special day. You could even take the polish off toes for a little bit. If it is winter ask your pedicurist to buff them to a shine until your pre wedding appointment.
- EXFOLIATE Get a facial a month or so before the wedding from a really good esthetician! See my post about what to look for when searching for the best spa to have services. https://www.oneperfectsomething.blog/best-spa-near-me-with-quality-skin-care-and-nail-services/. Ask your esthetician what your skin needs in terms of at home care. She has seen your skin and knows the best plan for you. Make sure you have a good cleansing and hydrating routine. You can then add in an exfoliating product that she recommends for your face. The face and neck are more delicate than the body skin.
- Don’t forget your body, Exfoliate some more! Think about the skin that will show in your dress. Especially if you live in a climate with a cold winter and your skin is dry. Sometimes we ignore legs, shoulders and arms and forget to hydrate the skin. Using a nice exfoliating soap or a body scrub can help with this task. If you slough off the dead skin and then hydrate it will really help the appearance of legs, décolleté and arms!
